At VOXLAB, authenticity is of utmost importance to us. We constantly seek fresh approaches and new perspectives, particularly when designing for public environments in the heart of Subiaco. Our goal is to create transformative experiences for the average person and elicit meaningful viewer responses.

Retaining materials and recycling them for another purpose is often used a starting point for our projects. The jarrah floorboards from the original Subiaco markets and have been salvaged and given new life through this curved sculptural form. This undulating timber piece runs through the 40m long alley connecting Rokeby Road to the centre of the project. This timber form will house a series of historical images gathered from the layers of history of this site. This sculpture will be lit with sequenced quality lighting to be as impactful at night time, drawing people through to the centre of the precinct and to create additional passive security. Historical imagery has be screen printed using a custom made, flexible silkscreen and squeegee. VOXLAB have engaged the artist, Nina Juniper, who is also the technician for screen printing at Curtin University.
